About

Chronicling the long road ahead of me (Kimo Trent) from Edmonton to PokerStars.net's The Big Game in Las Vegas, where I'll hopefully be staked $100,000 as a "Loose Cannon" to take on the world's most elite players, keeping any profit I make!! If I have the most winnings out of any Loose Cannon (which is the plan!), I'll be getting a NAPT passport!! This is it. This is the contest of my dreams. This is The Road to The Big Game!

PokerStars.net’s The Big Game Round 3

Well, only 117 hand of it, as that’s when my AA’s got cracked. But as promised and/or expected, here it is, the tourney that ended the dream…for now. There’s one more last chance, but that’s two tourney’s and a week away. For now, I post this to review the many (IMHO) mistakes I made, and fix the leaks in my game. Comments of all sorts are welcomed, as always.

There I am! But that’s from before, I have to win for another chance to wow these producers. As you can see, there’s only two chances left to get in, and I have one of those chances tomorrow. I posted this picture for motivation. To remind myself I’ve done it before, can do it again, and that it’ll be worth it! Oh so worth it!!!! I’m on my way Vegas, hope you’re ready for me :)

And we’re on to Round 3…again!!

Then Vegas baby, Vegas! After 3 hrs. & 10 minutes, the starting field of 8401 Round 1 qualifiers was whittled down to a mere 1000, and in 280th place that includes me. Now onto Round 3 tomorrow @ 1:30pm. As of this writing, there are only 1004 entrants, and the top 200 get to submit an audition. I like those odds :)

Some quick stats that I copied from the ‘Stats’ button as the tourney ended:

During current Hold’em session you were dealt 197 hands and saw flop:
 - 12 out of 21 times while in big blind (57%)
 - 14 out of 22 times while in small blind (63%)
 - 40 out of 154 times in other positions (25%)
 - a total of 66 out of 197 (33%)
 Pots won at showdown - 13 of 22 (59%)
Pots won without showdown - 17

Only 33% of flops seen. Not a terrible number, certainly safe, but a bit lower than where I like to be. Even though I won 59% of my showdowns, I’d like to have won more overall, at least 50% of the flops I seen, but it’s close, so I’m happy with these results. Especially considering how card dead I went there for a stretch!

Onto the third & final round tomorrow, then one more chance to rub elbows with true greatness on TV! Exciting doesn’t come close to describing it! One more to go!!!

The Opportunity of a Lifetime…

…that’s what’s in front of me. A chance to be staked $100,000, and sit down with the very best of the best for a game of high-stakes poker, keeping any profit I make. This is the premise for PokerStars.net’s “The Big Game”, and I’ve qualified through three rounds of tournaments on PokerStars to be eligible to submit an audition video to be on the show. You get 2 minutes to explain why you should be chosen, and I feel I’ve put together a pretty damn good two minutes. However, I recently received the email from PokerStars notifying me that I wasn’t selected to be on the show :(

Well, that doesn’t deter me. I figure they must have enjoyed my video, and that it may have got picked, but there was just a couple ahead of me that went that extra mile. I’m prepared to go that extra mile for this chance, and I’m back in the hunt. After getting that email I immediately registered in another Round 1 tourney and promptly went on to Round 2 in excellent fashion! I’m back on my road to The Big Game, playing Round Two as I type this (we’re on break), and motivated to go to Vegas & face the best!! Break is over, I must get back (top 10% at the break!), but I will be posting here right after. See you then :)
